Hotels and restaurant industry are drastically closing because of the pandemic disease. There are over twelve million of overseas Filipino workers across the world from land base and sea base.

The majority of this is falling apart. Filipinos are coming home because they’ve lost their job or took their vacation leave to take care of their family. Some of them couldn’t return abroad because of strict policy implemented by the national government in the Philippines.

According to PHOI, Hotel and restaurant industry losses in business transaction and starting to declare bankruptcy. Many of the OFWs are affected that results into unemployment and return home empty pockets. After the Lock downs implemented from different country the data of tourism fall from 70% comparing the last quarter of 2019. Many Filipinos are stock and urged to return home to their family.

DOLE – Department of Labor and Employment’s AKAP program for OFWs initiated and supports returning OFW or OWWA members who are affected by the pandemic. A cash aid of 10,000Php or 200USD is given out to support their financial needs.
